Imperial forces try to draw Obi-Wan out.
As the latest Star Wars spinoff hits its penultimate episode, things get very real for Kenobi. With a flashback to Coruscant and a practice duel between Kenobi and his Padawan, we’re reminded just how close the Jedi master was to his apprentice. And there’s another key flashback this week that helps flesh out one of the character’s motives.
The tracker has worked, and the Imperial forces descend on a secret base to smoke out Kenobi. Vader, pleased with Reva’s work, makes her the Grand Inquisitor and lets her lead the assault on the fleeing rebels. The outpost is under siege and it’s the selfless actions of our heroes that lets them finally escape.
Vader has never been stronger, demonstrating powers here that have previously been limited to video games. There’s also another duel with the Dark Lord of the Sith, and Stormtroopers continue to be hopeless at shooting straight. There’s also a sense of consequences and sacrifice, setting us up for the season finale.
Verdict: A strong chapter that delivers on plot, action and drama – quite how it will conclude is anyone’s guess. 8/10
