Out of options, Cassian is recruited for a dangerous mission to infiltrate an Imperial garrison.
The Rogue One prequel continues to deliver on the promise of its three-episode opener with its titular hero invited by Luthen Rael to ‘put a real stick in the eye of the Empire’ by robbing the Imperial payroll from an armoury.
Having avoided the Empire (at least as we know it) in the opening episodes, we’re dropped onto Coruscant where the Imperial Security Bureau are the very definition of bureaucracy, led by Anton Lesser’s officious Major Partagaz. This world of reports and office politics is as predatory as any Imperial gathering, as discovered by Denise Gough’s security officer Dedra Meero.
Andor, under the disguise of Clem, joins suspicious resistance fighters led by Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay), while Lutheran meets up with Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) on Coruscant.
Verdict: I’m really buying in to this espionage drama, which has thrown in a few more familiar Star Wars tropes this week. Grownup, quality drama all round. 8/10
