A fugitive once more, Cassian must make his next move before it’s too late.
This episode of the Rogue One prequel is written by creator and showrunner Tony Gilrory, giving us momentary pause to reflect on where everyone’s at following the events on Narkina 5, and prepping us for the season finale.
Cassian and his companion are on the run, their attempt to steal a getaway ship initially proving futile. Vel is breaching protocols and putting others at risk, while her cousin Mon Mothma shares concerns that her finances are under greater scrutiny – the cracks on her cool exterior are certainly starting to show.
On Ferrix, the death of a loved one could be the perfect lure to snare a rebel, while Cassian’s friends are being monitored or tortured. But the best stuff again goes to Stellan Sarsgard’s Luthen, who not only has to convince others to facilitate a sacrifice for the common good, but meets the enemy face on.
Verdict: The screw turns and the Empire’s grip grows tighter – compelling event television. 9/10
