Finally arriving at their destination coordinates, the Infinity crew discovers a hidden planet and the long-awaited identity of their mysterious messenger.

Is it a spoiler to say that Dal and his friends finally find the deserted Chakotay and crashed Protostar? I think that must have been a given since the series opener, and rather a matter of when rather than if. But I’m not going to disclose who the mysterious stranger is yet, just in case you’re not quite up to speed.

These two-parters straddle the mid-point of the season and demonstrate the strengths of this second year, namely longer-form narrative and big story points. If the first story is very much an action-packed hour of the crew escaping the Matrix-like tentacled time scavengers, the second is a variation on The Martian and 1965 movie The Flight of the Phoenix.

Verdict: Featuring storytelling that the grown-up live-action Star Trek shows should aspire towards, these are two excellent two-parters. 9/10
