The animated Star Trek serves up another clutch of fun episodes, with emphasis initially on who the mysterious benefactor is.

They left a secret message with Murf, which now needs to be deciphered. This is the point where things are clicking into place – the message is revealed, the mission is clear, a starship needs to be hijacked via some holodeck jiggery pokery, not forgetting a run-in with a Kazon and a quest to find a new body for Zero.

While each episode progresses the season-wide arc, there’s two side-mission ‘adventures of the week’, which helps to keep things fresh across this 20-episode run. It’s a joy to spend more time with Janeway and the EMH Doctor (still as pompous as ever) and Star Trek fans will enjoy the steady stream of character references and Easter Eggs.

Verdict: The second season of Prodigy continues to settle in to its new run. While the upping of the Voyager content is welcome, it’s at the expense of Dal and co, who are no longer the sole primary focus. 7/10
