The crew has their first away mission on an undiscovered planet that manifests their deepest desires, only to realize the planet has desires of its own.

The entry portal to the Star Trek universe introduces its new recruits (both on screen and sitting at home) to the concept of the away mission, as a Class M planet is discovered in the Hirogen star system.

Holo-Janeway introduces the crew of the Protostar to phasers (default set to stun) and the Runaway, an all-terrain jeep for traversing planets. The excited team aren’t aware that Gwynn has escaped from the brig and contacted her father and that she’s preparing to abandon them. They also discover that all is not always what it seems – the planet lures unwitting visitors to its surface so that they can be consumed for fuel.

Verdict: A lot is packed in to the half hour, with some gorgeous planet design and a dangerous adversary. Great fun. 7/10
