When the crew gets trapped in the Holodeck by a mysterious malfunction, they aren’t sure what’s programmed or what’s real.

It’s back to that favourite staple of TNG and Voyager, the Holodeck, for this next instalment of the Star Trek show for youngsters. Having completed a practice drill, the crew of the Protostar realise that not only are they still stuck inside the Holodeck, but all its programmes are merging.

So follows a quest for the Cellar Door Society, seeking clues while dodging pirates and bikers. Oh, and Murf is a crooner like Vic Fontaine. As you can guess, the emphasis is on fun, and while the main Protostar plot takes a back seat for the week, this is a welcome diversion from some of the more dramatic episodes.

Verdict: An unashamedly witty caper that takes the opportunities presented by the Holodeck and goes for broke. 7/10
