Trapped in the Neutral Zone, the crew encounters a rogue geneticist who sheds light on Dal’s past.

Picking up directly from last week’s exciting episode where the crew of the Protostar fled into the Neutral Zone, Ronny Cox’s Admiral Edward Jellico, who memorably locked horns with Riker in TNG’s The Best of Both Worlds two-parter, is here to trouble Vice-Admiral Janeway, Meanwhile, the Protostar makes a stop at a star port where the crew discovers a world where unregulated experiments are taking place.

A scientist introduces the crew to artificial hybrid speciation – the creation of humans combined with the DNA of 26 other species, the handiwork of Dr Soong (who else?). Significantly, Dal discovered that he has these dormant genes, but is it ethical for him to awaken them and give him super powers? Oh, and what’s up with the Dauntless’ Ensign Asencia?

Verdict: I’m not bored of saying this – we have another very good action-packed episode in this series that puts some of its live-action counterparts to shame. 8/10
