Boimler leads his first away mission on an alien megastructure.

That Star Trek stalwart, the all-powerful planet-running super computer, is causing concerns after it has started lagging and making silly mistakes. It’s been fine for a millennium and probably its operating system needs an update and then the clouds start falling out of the sky.

Buoyed up by his recent promotion, Rutherford now has responsibilities for other crew members, and he’s no good at delegating or putting them in danger. The other ensigns are put on a full detail, and find a way to get their own back, but who is tricking who? The two plots work well together as the lower deckers discover that responsibility comes in different forms.

Verdict: Fun, but ultimately generic, I’m still waiting for a ‘wow’ episode this season. 6/10
