It’s conjugal visit time and General Naird is all systems go. Meanwhile, Dr Chan and Captain Ali carpool, and Dr Mallory deals with a time crunch.

Naird finally gets some personal time with Maggie (Lisa Kudrow) in prison – goodness knows what she did, but it’s a minimum sentence of 40 years – and she wants them to have an open relationship. It’s something he initially resists but then realises that it may by the only practical way forward. It’s a touching scene, demonstrating their love for one another in the most awkward of circumstances.

The Nairds’ daughter has also come along for the ride (private copter) and spends time telling to her mom’s fellow inmates to work out how well she is really coping. In the sub-plot, Chan and Ali take a road trip do that the latter can have laser eye surgery, though they are must certainly not an item… yet. And pity poor Mallory who is desperately trying to fill the two remaining spaces in the launch crew, with his choices being barrel scrapings of the highest order.

Verdict: A final moment of quiet before the two-part season finale, it bounces the characters along nicely, and they’re starting to fill their respective space boots quite nicely. 7/10
