Reeling from witnessing a gruesome murder, the remaining Galloway family regroup to try to escape the island. But they quickly realise that the competition can’t be stopped, no matter what.

After a slightly shaky opening two episodes (and some horrific gore) I’m now really enjoying Shudder’s ‘Agatha Christie meets Saw’ serial. True, there’s still plenty of the crimson stuff this week, but the characters are settling down and the bigger picture is starting to develop.

Any disappointment that we wouldn’t see any more of David Cronenberg’s mean patriarch (he died in the first episode) is dissipated by the inclusion of many flashbacks, revealing what a vile, hateful creature Galloway senior was. It’s no surprise that he devised such a spiteful series of games to force his relatives to compete for their inheritance, and this week’s task particularly shocking (literally).

We still know no more about the masked killer, who carries out another gruesome murder, and it’s clear that at least one other member of the family is happy to kill when required. Seamus and Christy become more than a bickering couple as their back story starts to be filled out, and there’s also a focus on the class divide and race.

Verdict: Like one of the unfortunate victims this week, I’m now hooked, with Flesh and Blood shaping up to be a fun guilty pleasure. 8/10
