The race to break the story is on.
A colleague’s slip-up means Dan has hours to get his story out to the world. But whose story is he going to tell?
There’s some remarkably helpful and precise technical wizardry that unlocks a key door in Kirby’s mind – perhaps a little too convenient for the advancement of the plot, but that’s only because it’s one of the stranger parts of the premise… the time travel element, that still hasn’t been fully explained to the audience. I’m invested enough to trust that it will be, but I’m not sure I’d have been as fast as Kirby to realise that someone’s recorded voice is being replayed to them… before they say the words. Creepy ‘AF’, as the kids say.
The memories this awakens in Kirby help her to realise that she was being stalked by Harper for far longer than she’d thought – something we viewers were aware of, but now she’s joining the dots too. The more the links in the deadly chain are connected, the scarier the story and the braver our heroine. Whose story will Dan tell if Kirby wants to remain anonymous? She lets that last curtain fall as she realises that her part of the story is the most compelling and a crucial factor in the police solving so many cold cases that are now clearly linked. Kirby still uses her discoveries to try to save another woman’s life – I’m in awe and I’m desperate for her to succeed.
Thank heavens Harper’s not after her in the ‘here and now’ such as that is for Kirby… surely that danger would be unbearable for her? But she shouldn’t underestimate his cleverness.
Verdict: Horrifying trauma for Kirby – don’t watch this one alone! 7/10
