Michael continues to build trust with Bonnie, but Clyde may prove more difficult to win over. Maria suffers a devastating loss which impacts all of her friends. A potential lead turns to dust in front of Liz’s eyes. Isobel finally gets together the strength to tell Anatsa the truth.
Well, Jones’ body missing, the Dark Triad on the loose doing dastardly schemes and Maria’s mum gone walkabout once again – it never rains but it pours (metaphorically speaking) in Roswell.
Michael thinks he can continue to work on Bonnie and Clyde and win them around. Max is sceptical but ultimately relents. Concentrating on Bonnie first, Michael is encouraged by his progress. She seems open and friendly in a way that you don’t expect the average dictator to be, and Michael figures he can slowly coax her around. Only problem is that wherever Bonnie is, Clyde is never far behind, and he seems much more of a fanatic about the plans of Tezca. Has Michael finally bitten off more than even he can chew?
Maria suffers the most painful loss imaginable, and it’s made worse by the loss of her powers and a final, cryptic message she can’t make head nor tail of. So seismic is the loss that it affects everyone, and it’s really nice to see how that really does mean everyone, including Isobel who has become much closer to Maria in recent times.
Of course, that means that when she’s confronted with the opportunity to try to fix things with Anatsa, it just becomes worse. How can she be honest with the girl? Although she loves her, she can’t fully trust to it, not least one suspects because of the slight problem of having mentally manipulated her before. Advice, when it comes, arrives from an unexpected direction, and comes with unexpected revelations of its own. At any rate, Isobel finally decides to woman up and get on with it, but will simple honesty work to fix her relationship?
Liz gets the opportunity to study some material directly related to the new, mystery alien that immediately goes wrong in the most vital of ways. A second bite at the cherry, thanks to Max flexing his new powers, yields the same dead end, but eventually gets her thinking outside of the box. Unfortunately by the time she gets to the answer it’s already too late.
Verdict: Picking up the pace nicely. 8/10
