Tiago and Lewis interrogate Diego, seeking a confession, while Lewis senses Tiago is hiding something from him. Adelaide warns Molly about her personal desires jeopardizing the Temple’s future.
Much of this episode revolves around the interrogation of Diego for the murder of bent cop Riley. The other officers are dying to have some time with him in a cell, and it’s only the intervention of Brent Spiner’s police captain that saves the suspect from a bloody encounter. It’s tense TV, what with Tiago trying to protect his brother from being named, while knowing that this will break his family apart. Nathan Lane has never been finer as Detective Lewis, finally convincing Diego to take the wrap alone. It’s beautifully played, and the detectives are lauded for their work, but it’s a hollow victory.
The other plots bubble along, with Townsend learning of Kurt’s Nazi past, and Rory Kinnear’s Peter Craft sending his wife to a sanatarium so that Elsa can move in. And poor Molly realises just how trapped she is, while mother Vega pleads with her son to confess what he’s done.
Verdict: Another strong hour directed by Roxann Dawson – she gets fine performances from her game cast. Magda takes a back seat this week, giving us more time with Tiago and Lewis – and that’s to be applauded. 8/10
