That feeling when you knew it was too good to be true…

Mac, KJ and Erin have all had heavy news either about or from their older selves, and during last week’s episode, you’d have been forgiven for thinking that Tiff had escaped – but you shouldn’t have been so naive – shocks are the order of the day for the Paper Girls.

While the other shoe drops right on Tiff’s head, Erin and Larry have a run-in, but this is 1999 Larry and you don’t get more green behind the ears, bless him.  He’s horrified to learn of the lengths he’ll go to in the future to betray the girls and he’s keen to make amends – in fairness he tries, and I can’t help feeling sorry for him. Mac also learns something more about another member of her family, one who sees more than she should, but how this helps her cause is unclear.

Quite a lot more is unclear in fact, and this episode feels as if it’s designed simply to get us from point A to point B – and it does that by way of an awful lot of navel gazing. This introspection slows the pace of much of the episode and doesn’t feel quite concluded before the action switch is flicked back on. Is there too much to tie up in the final instalment?

Verdict: A filler episode that ramps up the tension for the finale. 7/10
