Here she comes to save the daaaaaay…

If you thought young Tiff was a smart little cookie, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Oh, and you remember Reagan, the President who coined that phrase (in a political context) in the 80s? Yeah, he turns up too and it will give you nightmares!

Slightly shonky visual ‘dream’ effects to one side, this is another episode with a lot of heart – typified by the most beautiful interaction between KJ and her future girlfriend that is beautifully scripted and endearingly portrayed.

Newly self-aware KJ, with the subtle seedling shoots of confidence, almost shares her revelation with Mac, but Mac gets in there first and it leads to a poignant reconciliation. The rift now is between Erin and Mac, but it’s clear that this is the fault of neither – communication is key, girls, get it together! For me, this female teenage dynamic is relatable, if frustrating to watch. Blimey, is this how my parents felt when I’d had a tiff with my mates?!

Speaking of Tiff, I love her older self even more than the younger version. Smart, sassy, practical, confident, emotionally intelligent and driven. Also heaps of fun, with fabulous hair. She’s hands-down the best thing about this episode and the moxy also shown by younger Tiff in a showdown with Larry, bolstered by her interaction with her inspirational older self, is a ‘punch-the-air’ moment.

Verdict: Tiff the elder has entered the chat. That’s it, that’s the verdict. 8/10
