A visit to an abandoned reactor brings multiple teams together.

Here we are at episode 8 of this opening season of Legendary’s MonsterVerse show, and I can’t help feeling that we should be further down the track by now than we actually are. A lot of time has been spent snooping around abandoned buildings and following Da Vinci Code-style clues, but the absence of monsters is a problem.

There’s a great cliffhanger to wrap up this instalment, and the high production values of this show are there to be admired, but travelling and pontificating does not an exciting series make, and I really hope that something is pulled out of the bag for the crucial final two hours.

Verdict: More of the same, but not in a good way, playing to the series’ greatest weaknesses. 6/10
