A trip to Monster Island reveals that Godzilla is not as dead as initially hoped.
Last week’s episode was a real damp squib (I’d have settled for a monster damp squib!), so it’s reassuring to report that things are back on track again. The show really falters when Shaw (older or younger Russell) or Godzilla are not on screen, and normal service is resumed in this instalment as we flit between 1955 and present day.
There’s a concern that G-Day was just the beginning and that this could soon be magnified by a thousand. All parties ultimately converge and there’s a wonderful action sequence as one of the titans makes its presence known.
Verdict: This is more like it – action and scale that’s worthy of the MonsterVerse. 8/10
