The monster hunters return to San Francisco to continue the search for their father.
After last week’s action-packed episode, things really slow down, perhaps too much so. Cate, May and Kentaro are released by Monarch and given plane tickets and passports to leave Alaska, but Shaw is kept in captivity. The youngsters go to Cate’s house in San Francisco and engage her mum into helping them enter the quarantined section by the South Pier.
There’s a lot of wandering around, dodging security, and the sleuthing all ends in the Transamerica Pyramid building where a plot contrivance steals from Raiders of the Lost Ark’s Staff of Ra.
Verdict: Something of an anticlimax after episode 4, the show really feels like it’s teasing or treading water or running out of ideas. 5/10
