Chloe discovers that she has Lucifer’s gift…

Couples share more after they’ve been intimate, as a rule, but despite his thousands of encounters over the millennia, Lucifer’s never found himself in the situation that he does with the Detective at the start of this episode. It throws another spanner in the works – and I suspect a lot of fans will echo Chloe’s heartfelt comment that it would be nice if they could just have a little bit of time to enjoy their new relationship status. Sadly, if it’s going to be the lovey-dovey version that we get a recapitulation of here, I’d rather things stayed dramatic.

And dramatic is certainly the word for the latter part of the episode, with Dan asking for a sign, and getting it (but perhaps not the one he was quite looking for), Ella finding love – although something has alerted Chloe to a problem regarding the serial killer investigation – and an intruder on Chloe and Lucifer’s peaceful time. It’s a cliffhanger that works because all the pieces have carefully been put in place, but I have a sneaking suspicion that things may not be quite as they seem, given Lucifer’s mojo changes within the episode…

Verdict: A good blend of character development and plot. 9/10
