Now we’re getting somewhere.
I don’t mean that literally. The time-fallers are still thousands of years early for that dentist appointment next Thursday – but we start to get a few answers and that more entertaining relationship-building and relationship-growth is back.
‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ by Eve & Marybeth is not going to make it on to any bestseller list, but their sons are giant douche-bags. I’m done with their whining, it’s getting boring. I’m not the only one, as Riley beats some sense into Josh. Conveniently (again) circumstances transpire to trap Marybeth with Lucas so he can finally listen to her. This kind of heart to heart is, for me, what makes me want to watch, never mind the fact that they’re all stranded in another time.
Throw in a ‘homage’ to Lost, a newly-found wardrobe truck that must have been en-route to a film set (gosh, warm clothes, that’s lucky), a cock-blocking prehistoric storm (sucks to be you, Josh) and a sweet interaction between Ty and a woman indigenous to the time (at last, someone tries an approach other than violence or running away) and this feels like a much more satisfying instalment.
There’s a bittersweet moment with Sophia too; respect, Soph. You’re alright.
Verdict: The truth can’t be buried forever, no matter when you are.
8/10
