Kenji and Sammy realise just how much trouble they’re in and the others begin to realise just how much Brooklynn has been changed.

This episode continues the themes of the last one, but really starts to drill down on the Brooklynn/Everyone Else conflict. Darius is the first one to really clash with her here, and it’s easy to see why. From their perspective, Brooklynn has lied to them and let them grieve her for years. From her perspective, she’s sacrificed everything for her friends and they hate her for it. Neither is fully right, neither is fully wrong and the conflict is inevitable.

Where it gets interesting is when Brooklynn confronts her nemesis, Doctor Wu and discovers he’s not her nemesis anymore. Wu’s exhausted horror at what Biosyn is doing with his work is the logical end to his arc across both franchises and does fascinating things for Brooklynn. Because vengeance on him has been a huge part of why she does what she does and without that, now what?

She’s still contemplating this when the group is reunited. It’s a neat piece of plotting, Wu sending the kids off to delete Biosyn records while Kenji and Sammy run for their lives from dilophosauruses that Dodgson all but fed them to. That plot also gives us a chance to see just how Kenji has changed. He wrestles a dinosaur, unarmed, to rescue Smoothie and does so without a second’s hesitation. Just as focused as Brooklynn but in different ways.

Verdict: With the Camp survivors reunited, the season’s first act is officially over, and it’s been a doozy. Next, justice! 9/10
