After a giant wave washes them back to the island, the teenagers brainstorm a fresh way to escape – although not everyone seems so keen.

And so we’re back with the Camp Cretaceous campers for a third – extended – season, quickly returning us to the status quo, with them unable to get off the island, and the various bits of fauna getting more and more accustomed to living without human beings around. We get a reminder at the end of the episode of the larger threat that’s facing them – as indicated at the end of last season – but the season kicks off with a different sort of encounter, as the kids try to find a way of using the sails from the hang gliders up at Lookout Point.

There’s a great action sequence as the teenagers encounter the dimorphodons, which remind me a great deal of Sauron from The X-Men, and seem to have a malevolence we’ve only really seen before in the raptors.

It wouldn’t be Camp Cretaceous without some teenage drama, and there’s a rapprochement between those who were on the outs, particularly Brooklynn and Yaz. Ben’s also out of sorts, realising that he didn’t want to leave his friend Bumpy behind, and he’s not impressed by Darius’ Pollyanna-ish attitude…

Verdict: Still confidently playing the same cards as before, this is a good start to the season, but with two extra episodes to play with, hopefully things will change up a bit.
