A return to Main Street means a fresh encounter with an old friend…
The penultimate episode of this season of Camp Cretaceous (and a third set has already been ordered) keeps the two sets of teenagers apart, with Ben, Yaz, Brooklyn and Kenji trying to use the underground tunnels to race to their friends’ rescue – but a steel barrier (which Yaz points out that Wild Child is not going to be able to break through, matching my thoughts on the progress, or lack thereof, of Ben) is in their way. They then find a control centre… and of course someone has to just fiddle with switches, setting up problems for down the line.
The scenes with Darius, Sammy and the two adults are tense, particularly once the T. rex is brought into the equation, and there’s some revisiting of the very familiar Jurassic Park jump scares as the teenagers try to stay out of the way. We end up with everyone heading for the watering hole – but who will arrive first?
It’s a well-paced episode, with the requisite dinosaur vs human moments, although with none of the shock of last episode’s death (albeit offscreen).
Verdict: Another enjoyable season heads for the final showdown. 8/10
