After Ben falls from the monorail, the others realise the train is going the wrong way…

Inevitably, following the apparent death of Ben, the mood for the rest of this first series is darker, but that does mean that the bonding between the remaining five campers does improve, and they work together considerably more effectively against Toro when it attacks them after they’ve made their way through the tunnels and nearly got to the port. (And anyone who was seriously surprised by the very last scene of the show really hasn’t been paying attention to any previous Amblin output!)

The adult characters have been sidelined for quite a bit of the second half but Dave and Roxie have fought for their charges, right, it seems, to the very end – but I am pleased that we didn’t have a moment where they realize exactly what’s happened to them. The potential for a second series is there, given the finale, and we know from Jurassic Park III that resourceful youngsters can survive on the islands for quite some time.

This has been a surprisingly good addition to the Jurassic Park/World franchise, and I hope that the ratings have been sufficient to justify a second season.

Verdict: A good conclusion to a thoroughly enjoyable season. 8/10
