Harley finally seems to be getting the recognition she craves when she receives an invite to Legion of Doom’s HQ to discuss things, but is everything quite as it seems?

Last time Harley Quinn pissed me off, it was with a bit of casual antisemitism. This time out, it decides that maybe it’ll leave the Jewish community alone for a bit and decides to crack a gag about standing for the anthem. Maybe you could argue that it’s poking fun at those who insist on that by having this be the L.O.D’s stance on the matter, but still, it feels like another needless bit of tastelessness that could have been avoided in any one of a dozen other ways to achieve that effect.

That aside, it’s actually a relatively decent episode, with Harley finally apparently on the verge of achieving everything she’s been working for, for herself and her crew (though mostly it has to be said, for herself). Trouble arises when it transpires that there is more behind Lex Luthor’s offer than is immediately apparent, in a turn of events that will create real tension within the dynamic of the group.

It has some fun with its cameos – Bane is back and as funny as ever and it introduces Aquaman who is also amusing although having still not seen the recent movie I have no idea how much they’re riffing off that with the character here. There’s also a bizarre sideplot involving Borgman and something lurking in the basement of the gang’s lair which feels more like a way for the show to find something to do with one-note character Doctor Psycho and also artificially drive home a narrative point for Harley than anything else.

Verdict: About as all over the place as its protagonist. The anthem gag feels genuinely nasty but otherwise it’s mainly just more of the same running in place for its main character. 5/10
