He is Groot.

I Am Groot is a series of animated shorts available on Disney+. They follow baby Groot on a selection of unconnected adventures with none lasting more than three or four minutes.

They are bright, fun and light-hearted. They are also very little more than that. If I compare them to Pixar shorts they are neither as charming nor as poignant. On the other hand, they are lovely little bite size moments, their culinary equivalent being a handful of Skittles.

They won’t take you more than twenty minutes to watch the entire set but as with all things Disney+ you can’t set them to play on automatically, so it’s not possible to simply watch your way through while doing something else. When a series is forty minutes per show that’s not a big problem but when it’s three? That’s more irritating.

Verdict: I can see how they got made and I’m glad they did – there’s too little that’s created for its own joy, so check them out if you have a spare moment.
