The people of Mawinaken flee the overrun town to escape the rapidly approaching undead.
This episode of the lively zomedy starts with a zombie exploding on a bonnet like a bucket of raspberry jam, which pretty much sets the scene for the tongue in cheek gore to follow. From a shootout at the lab to guests being devoured by the walking dead at a wedding (mom goes back to rescue the wedding cake), it’s an eye-gouging, cleaver-in-the-head sort of hour.
While most of the town is in denial about what’s going on, at least some of its gun-wielding residents know how to tool up in the face of a zombie apocalypse. The thinly-drawn characters tread that fine line between being annoying and strangely engaging (who would you feed first to the flesh eaters?) but it continues to be a relentless and enjoyable indulgence.
Verdict: As we hit the halfway mark and the cast begin to converge on the local Paymart for their final stand, the next five weeks promise some gory mayhem. 7/10
