Simon has invented a virtual reality experience that allows him to join his favourite films, but what happens when virtual reality becomes Simon’s actual reality?

OK, I’ve been told to be very careful about what’s revealed in this review of Creepshow’s season two finale, as there’s surprises that you really don’t want spoilt. I can, however, confirm that goes out on a high, concluding an excellent series.

I can also say that it’s written by Dana Gould (Stan Against Evil) and directed by showrunner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and follows Simon (Justin Long, Drag Me to Hell/ Jeepers Creepers) who has created the ultimate VR vehicle, the Immersopod. It’s a wonderful creation, but has taken over his life, and wife Renee (D’Arcy Carden, The Good Place) understandably feels rejected.

The more time that Simon spends in the pod, the greater the rejection – he’s essentially having an extra-marital affair with a machine – and Renee makes an intervention. Hannah Fierman (V/H/S) also plays an important role, but that one you’ll have to discover for yourself. The big reveal here is of course which film(s) our characters visit, and it/they may be different than you imagine. But it’s no secret that the ingenuity employed here to create seamless integration is admirable, and this single, longer tale (we normally get two) has a very Creepshow ending.

Verdict: Creepshow has really found its feet this year by bringing genre stars back to the screen and sharing a wide selection of unexpected tales. Gimme more! 9/10
