Clarice and Ardelia team up to investigate a deeply twisted cold case after the body of a missing teenager is found entombed in a property.

Clarice (the show and its eponymous character) go to dark places this week as a 14-year-old child is discovered in the walls of a building. A DNA match connects the death with a cold case murder from some 12 years previously, giving Ardelia Mapp (Devon A. Tyler) the opportunity to get out in the field. The resolution to the case really doesn’t play as you’d think, making for a tense final few minutes.

But it’s not just Clarice and Ardelia holding the focus, as eyes fall on Krendler’s defence attorney, who Starling positively identifies from the cover of a magazine. Further surveillance reveals that Joe Hudlin is involved in the river murders, but Krendler is over a barrel and refuses to take matters further.

Verdict: Straying tangentially off the season’s main path this week, Clarice proves that it’s just as effective in the non-serial killer plots and can boast a strong ensemble cast that share the load. 8/10
