As ViCAP finally gets the green light to raid Alastor Pharmaceuticals, Clarice punches another FBI agent in a moment of rage, then willingly turns in her badge and gun.

We’re in the final throes of this first season of Clarice, and while the threads of the River Murders case are coming together, Clarice simultaneously finds herself unravelling. She tells her therapist that she isn’t angry, but as the pieces of her broken memory start to reform, it’s pure rage that’s driving her, leading to a momentary outburst of violence.

We discover that the conspiracy is much bigger than the show’s villain, Joe Hudlin, as he’s taken off the board in an apparent ‘suicide’, though as viewers we witness what happens when the higher powers act. Significantly, we also find out the secret composition of the Rothko-like painting hanging in Nils Hagen’s office, but just what exactly is the symbolism hidden underneath?

Verdict: With a great cliffhanger and everything to play for in its final episode, Clarice continues to display the early promise that was muddied in the middle of the season. 8/10
