Jakub and his army come out of the dark and attack Charles and his fighters. Charles must make a decision to free his family of the ancient book’s curse.
This was never going to end well for Charles Boone – the gloomy foreboding was there from the outset, and so the final episode of this adaptation of the Stephen King short story plays out.
We’re straight into action, as Charles and his diminished posse take on the vampires at Jerusalem’s Lot and there’s a staking that’s been a long time coming. Unfortunately, even with the leader dead, the curse for the Boones continues, requiring desperate measures. Charles carries out a farewell lap before taking the only action that will protect his children. It’s a sombre and downbeat (even by this show’s standards) ending, but as always, the quality of the production shines through the gloom in the acting, production design and atmosphere.
Verdict: An inevitably glum conclusion to one of the better Stephen King adaptations of recent times. 8/10
