Now that Pretzel Jack is out in the open, Jill and neighbour Ian need to find a way to control him before he sets off on another rampage.
One of my concerns at the end of the previous episode was just where this story was going to go for its final instalments. Main villain Jack was fully in the mix and surely there was little to do bar try to escape from him in increasingly bizarre situations. And for the first half of this episode it dies feel like an extended and convoluted chase. While not exactly treading water (particularly in the showdown in a swimming pool) there’s a certain repetition to the activity.
A confrontation between Jill and the mother of Tom (Brandon Scott)’s mystery child plays out differently than you’d expect, but it’s the final act that really brings things back on course again. Jill’s father Bill (Greg Henry – Slither) is trying to contact her about an important family matter – and it’s a doozy! Cue another gory attack and a revelation we’ve probably seen coming but now is out in the open.
Review: After a fairly generic chase scene that exists in a world where the general public don’t seem to exist – and the police are beyond incompetent –things switch up a gear as an important element is added. While not the greatest surprise, the consequences are huge. 7/10
