Gordon and Lilith open a fully-immersive themed bed and breakfast establishment in Castle Rock, murder capital of 1991. It’s in Warden Lacy‘s old house… what could possibly go wrong?

Say what you like about the Torrances, but they know how to wield an axe. Uncle Jack slowly went crazy when caretaking at The Overlook Hotel, pursuing his wife and son with the fireman’s weapon of choice, and now niece Jackie buries one in the head of psychotic Gordon to prevent him from stabbing Henry Deaver, who in turn has just severed the carotid artery of Lilith. You see, things are getting pretty fractious in Stephen King’s Castle Rock, with locals expressing that they aren’t quite feeling themselves.

After the previous week’s sole focus on Henry’s mother Ruth (Sissy Spacek) the momentum picks up with Jackie releasing Henry from his prison. He returns to the family home where The Kid has cleaned up Alan Pangborn’s body, and then comes the first of many blows – The Kid says it was he who rescued Henry from the basement all those years ago, and then portraits him are found from across a 15-year period, but he hasn’t aged. And he was watching Jackie from the woods!

Verdict: As Castle Rock’s premiere season enters its third act, the bodies begin to pile up and secrets are revealed. All hell is (literally?) about to be let loose, but can Henry Deaver (AKA The Black Death) overcome the ancient evil? 8/10
