Lenina tests the limits of her emotional self-regulation while Bernard seizes an opportunity and John observes New London conditioning.
The seed of discontent continues to grow within Lenina, who having discovered the thrill of free will is soon back having sex with Henry, and he doesn’t like her taking charge – he’s the Alpha after all. But now she’s out of the box, this fun, competitive Lenina is taking control.
Elsewhere in New London, John is not complying with what’s being expected of him. He no longer wants to be a novelty, though that’s exactly how he’s initially seen by party planner and socialiser Helm Watson (a sassy Hannah John-Kamen, Ant Man and the Wasp) It’s not long before they’re engaging in carnal pleasures, but again there’s the beginning of a sexual revolution that just won’t stop.
Verdict: There’s no denying that Brave New World is a glossy hour of sci-fi drama that passes the time adequately, but it’s really shifted down a gear in terms of plot progress, and it’s a case of just waiting for the revolution to begin. 6/10
