Bernard introduces John to New London while Lenina struggles with reintegration after their visit to the Savage Lands.

It’s back to reality for Lenina after her near-death experience in the Savage Lands, and disappointingly things slip back into normality again, which for us viewers is less than riveting. While she starts to rebel in a small way, questioning whether or not she should blindly keep doing what she’s always done, Bernard is acting as if nothing ever happened and is more interested in shoring of his new plaything, the savage John.

Bernard is introducing John to this brave new world, and understandably he decides it’s far too much to take in. He doesn’t want an optic interface and decides to go on the run – the authorities not knowing what to do with the fugitive since there’s normally total compliance by citizens. As a savage, he’s a curiosity and a fish out of water, and just why does Ed Stoppard’s overseer want to send him back? The explanation floors John, but we saw this coming.

Verdict: A rather ho-hum episode, and the most formulaic to date. Production values are spot-on, but there’s really nothing new here to cling onto. 6/10
