Felix is pretty certain that his wife is up to something with her boss Dmitri, so he decides to hire some help to prove things one way or the other.

Another cleverly-plotted half hour from Pemberton and Shearsmith, this is so reliant on the twists and turns in its clever script that all I can do is share the set-up.

Felix (Steve Pemberton) has checked in to a grubby, budget hotel, and is waiting for female company. But it’s not that sort of paid female companion, rather specialist lip reader Iris (Sian Clifford, Fleabag) who is helping her client determine whether his wife is having an affair. Peering across the road through binoculars, Iris repeats to Felix what’s being said in the building opposite, but can he handle the truth?

Reece Shearsmith’s role is that of an interfering hotel manager, German Eric Muller, who’s desperate to find an inappropriate guest in the room. But it’s primarily a two-hander, with Felix and Iris each revealing secrets that drive the twists, concluding the episode in a place very different to where you expect.

Verdict: Clever, twisty and twisted, this one act thriller has a delicious premise and has great fun in stretching the format. 8/10
