A heavenly party descends on Fell and a Buddy Holly record gains extra significance.
After the initial setup episode, we start to gain a better understanding of how this sequel series is going to work. On the evidence of these first two episodes, it’s not as plot heavy as its predecessor, being more episodic in nature.
The backbone to the episode is a ‘Minisode’ called A Companion to Owls which is stripped across the 45 minutes. It follows the biblical story of The Book of Job, with Crowley and Aziraphale observing the misery piled upon Job (a nice role for Peter Davison). Is it their place to interfere, or are they just observers?
Back in the modern day, Mr Fell is visited by a heavenly party who have been alerted by a significant plume of miraculous activity, Maggie and Nina’s love story falters again, and an old record promises to hold a big clue about what’s really going on with Gabriel.
Verdict: The chemistry between the leads is still the strongest element of this fun fantasy adventure. 7/10
