Eve discovers she has a father…
The race to the end of the third series of the CBBC series continues with multiple new developments – not least by “Abe Bond” as he investigates a remote house, and discovers Rebecca lying in bed. It’s all part of Katherine’s grand scheme, and inexorably this episode we see the threads coming together. Are the Clarkes right to be suspicious of Katherine’s motives – or do the changes in Will caused by the nanobots justify taking any steps necessary to keep him alive?
Alongside all this high drama, the series doesn’t forget its remit to chart the progress of Eve, and scriptwriter Kim Miller provides some strong scenes for Poppy Lee Friar as Eve realises that she could – after all this time – finally get to experience the father/child relationship that she’s seen so strongly between Will and Nick. Steve Furst makes an immediate impression as Petersen, demonstrating both why Katherine trusts him, and why Nick doesn’t. His scenes with both Rhona Croker and with Friar could easily have become melodramatic, but are nicely held in check by Furst and director Fraser MacDonald.
Verdict: The stakes are heightened yet again… 8/10
