eve-3-4Zach returns and Eve learns about jealousy…

This is another episode where the combination of teenage problems and the ongoing plotlines mesh well together. The return of Zach, together with his new girlfriend, opens Eve’s eyes to what jealousy is, particularly as she’s had problems understanding the whole Cain/Lily/Will triangle. This being Eve, of course, another wrinkle has to be thrown into the mix, with KT not helping the situation by giving Mary Douglas a way to use Eve’s body (and Poppy Lee Friar’s adoption of Jane Asher’s mannerisms is quite spooky at times) – and let’s be honest, if we’re talking about jealousy as far as this series is concerned, how could you miss out Mary?

Vivien Adam’s episode starts quite darkly, with some serious questions posed over how Katherine has managed to recover from her traumatic wounds quite so quickly, and there’s another dark moment when Eve/Mary looks as if she’s going to push Cain over the edge. (And to an extent, given what he’s revealed, could she be blamed completely?) After the out and out comedy of the previous episode, it’s a good change of pace and there are a couple of telling moments which don’t bode well for the rest of the season.

Verdict: A good blend. 7/10
