Arrow Video, out now

Strange occurrences plague a small town detective and his family as he investigates the disappearance of a young boy.

Director Adam Randall (iBoy) delivers a tense, exciting horror thriller with I See You, and there’s plenty to enjoy in the twisty-turny narrative that doesn’t let up, right to the end.

Set in the sort of small town that Stephen King has popularised in fiction, this is a place that has dark secrets in its woods and there’s a sense of supernatural forces at work. In comes Detective Greg Harper (True Detective’s Jon Tenney), investigating the abduction of a child with the hallmarks of a case that was allegedly solved 15 years ago.

Back home, his wife Jackie (Twister’s Helen Hunt) is paying the price for her recently-discovered infidelity, and then her lover (True Blood’s Sam Trammell) makes an unexpected visit to the family home. A mysterious girl is spotted in the house, doors shut when there’s no one there, a duvet is pulled down, pictures disappear from photo frames and the TV and record player turn themselves on. What on Earth is going on? Probably not what you expect, and to say any more would do a disservice to this finely crafted shocker.

Arrow’s disc features a commentary by director Adam Randall and producer Matt Waldeck, a short ‘Making of’ feature interviewing the leads, a trailer and image gallery.

Verdict: An unexpected gem that wears its influences on its sleeve before going off and doing something rather clever. Definitely worth a spin. 9/10
