Andy has arrived in the nick of time – so of course Norton tells him to take his clothes off…

After Sergeant Andy Davidson has his Terminator moment (“come with me if you want to live”), he and Norton find themselves unexpectedly in Gideon Lyme’s room – and have to take all their clothes off. (As Cupid Stunt would point out, it is necessary to the plot!) And then Gideon walks in. And then so does his landlady.

Which leaves our heroes lost in the fog, at which point the episode starts to ratchet up the tension as we get confirmation that there really is something out there (as if we as an audience would doubt Norton for a second), and it’s after them. Even taking shelter in Norton’s digs doesn’t provide more than a few hours’ relief – although it does give Samuel Barnett, Tom Price and Joe Shire a chance to unwind with the characters – before there’s a very nasty realisation.

There’s some lovely moments of dialogue in the script (Andy trying to explain the vortex manipulator to Gideon, and the latter’s final description of it is spot on), and Steve Foxon’s sound design has some heavy lifting to do.

Verdict: It feels as if we’ve slipped into a higher gear now – the strongest episode yet. 9/10
