Titan Comics, out now

Missy has finally found what she was looking for, but the Master has also found what he was looking for… revenge!

The final issue of Titan’s four-part tribute to the Master’s 50th Anniversary is, sadly, not the event that we hoped it to be, concluding with a fizzle rather than a bang. At four issues, it just doesn’t have the plot to maintain its page count, feeling twice as long as it should have been.

Pairing Missy and Roger Delgado’s Master was a great idea, fulfilling a pairing that we could never see in real life. And yet most of the time Missy pretends that she’s ‘Doctor Who’, which we discover that the Master never actually fell for. Endless scenes of quipping along corridors is not the anniversary treat we were looking for, with cameos from the Third and Twelfth Doctor and the Brigadier barely registering.

Verdict: The Doctor Who comic will return this November with an Eighth Doctor take to celebrate his 25th anniversary. Here’s hoping that it will have substance than this rare misfire for the comic book series. 5/10
