The Time Lord Victorious strand continues with the third of Eaglemoss/ Hero Collector’s four related sets of Restoration Empire figurines.

Dalek sets are like buses – you wait months for one and then two come along at once, and these are welcome arrivals ahead of Christmas, presumably destined to be blasting their way out of stockings on December 25th.

The Dalek Scientist is of the RTD era design with dark grey base and black dome/ roundels/ vertical slats. It also boasts a modified claw rather than the standard plunger arm. The Dalek Strategist is a 60s model in light grey with blue roundels, and is severely beaten. The designers have effectively created a realistically battered model with missing roundels and flaked away paint.

The models come with a full colour 20-page booklet with sections on the different Dalek executors and assassins we’ve encountered along the way, a bio of the Dalek Strategist, a detailed cutaway of a Dalek Gunstick by Gavin Rymill, a grim review of some of the top Dalek deaths and another four-page text story by James Goss – Exit Strategy.

Verdict: I’ll never bore of collecting Dalek models when they look this impressive. They still haven’t conquered the universe, but their numbers are definitely massing in my collector’s cabinet. 9/10
