This is the story of one of the Doctor’s forgotten lives… The Fugitive Doctor.
As a taster for the upcoming Doctor Who Comic: Origins series, Titan published a prologue to the Fugitive Doctor’s story as part of Free Comic Book Day.
It’s 1962 and some children are visited in their wooden clubhouse by the Doctor, who is working for the mysterious Division. She’s been tasked with tracking down Monstario the Devourer and his fellow soft toys who have plans for Earth.
There’s a cute Beep the Meep vibe to this slight story that’s over just as it gets going (Free Comic Book Day editions have a lower page count) but there’s a lovely surprise on the last page.
Verdict: A glorified lead-in to the new Doctor Who Comic series from the regular team – it’s a lot of fun. 7/10
