Titan Comics, out now
Trapped in a parallel universe, Rose Tyler believed her adventures with the Doctor were over. But now she has to team up with two incarnations of the Time Lord to end the tyrannical rule of the warmongering Bad Wolf Empress.
Titan’s ongoing Doctor Who series is again (after its Missy title) approaching the world from a slightly different angle, this time picking up what happened to Rose Tyler after she entered a parallel universe. We find her still with the 10th Doctor’s regeneration clone, and they have a daughter called Mia, but she’s increasingly troubled by visions of another life. She imagines a battle, with someone reaching out for her, and then she blinks into our reality to meet the Eighth Doctor. Elsewhere, the Eleventh Doctor is tracked by an envoy of the Empress.
Alternate universe storylines are certainly a big deal at the moment, with upcoming movies featuring parallel versions of Spider-Man and Batman, so it seems timely to tap in to this already established Doctor Who plot line. The teaming of McGann and Smith Doctors should be a fun combination, and there’s enough going on in this first instalment to pique your interest.
Verdict: An intriguing fusion of multiple Doctors and multiples Roses – let’s see what happens next. 7/10
