Titan Comics, out now
The Doctor asks her crew where they want to go on holiday, but the greater concern is why each of them has a conflicting memory of where they last visited.
At the time of writing this, I have no idea if there will be a Doctor Who Christmas Special, and if there isn’t one, Titan have cleverly concocted a multi-part story to take us up to the festive season. As expected, it has the trappings you’d expect for a December 25th airing, from Santa to snow to wooden soldiers.
The Doctor is concerned why the TARDIS’s occupants seem to have had their memories erased, and they don’t even recall what the name was of the planet that they visited. Luckily, she recalls the route they took and once they’ve landed, she questions alien Friffle about what happened. They’ve been here before, but have no recollection of the wooden soldiers and Santa-like character who takes great exception at being called Santa. They’re thrown into prison and someone recognises the Doctor… to be continued!
Verdict: A fun Christmas story that takes a while to get going but has enough of a nostalgic glow to pull you in, tantalised your see what happens next. 7/10
