Missy out to save the Earth? Like the Monk, we’re more than a little cynical about the latest plan as revealed in Johnny Candon’s script, and of course, there’s good reason to be. Missy has an ulterior motive (or three) and it’s great fun listening to her run rings around everyone she encounters.

There’s a serious side to this one as well – as well as potential for this to reach back into another Big Finish range – and in the extras Candon explains the unusual thought that provoked the project. A certain Dark Star element can be spotted and Samuel Collings plays the Seed in a suitably lowkey way.

As ever, the repartee between Michelle Gomez and Rufus Hound is a joy to hear, and John Telfer and Lynsey Murrell make a somewhat different pair of antagonists (calling one of them an airhead might be deemed libellous to air).

Verdict: A clever underlying concept reminds us that not everything is ever neatly tided up after a war. 8/10
