Female DC Super Heroes take on the universe…
The book’s tagline sums it up perfectly – and it’s a book that does what it says on the tin. This is a concise guide from the well known – Wonder Woman, Supergirl – to those who have yet to make such an impression.
It’s a companion book to Maggs’ book on the female Marvel heroes (Fearless and Fantastic), and follows a similar pattern although this time the categories are Compassionate, Bold, Curious and Persistent. Diana (not Diana Prince) starts things off with Phantom Girl closing the book – but not everyone in here is a superhero. Iris West and Catwoman are among those featuring that you might not necessarily anticipate making the roll call, and help to make this a more rounded book than purely dealing with those who can be found in the Teen Titans etc.
As well as short character descriptions, there are data files with key bits of information, and there’s a fun guessing game to be had matching the list of artists at the back of the book with the illustrations!
Verdict: Another well put together guide. 8/10
