Titan Comics, out now
Fracktown 2032 and following her assault on the fracking point, Replicant Elle is being pursued by Koslov’s men.
In this concluding issue of the four-part Black Lotus series, Elle returns to Miguel his rescued wife and daughter, fully aware that she doesn’t have much time. Koslov is putting a spin on matters, accusing the wind farmers of being eco-terrorists. This is a time to recover, lick wounds and reflect on just what exactly is happening, but can there really be a truce between the two sides?
Nancy Collins’ plot points are delivered organically and efficiently without ever feeling like info-dump, while artist Enid Balam ensures that things are always kinetic even on the talkier pages. Marco Lesko’s colouring should also be acknowledged here, providing atmospheric contrast between the different environments.
Verdict: A satisfying, self-contained revenge western in the Blade Runner universe that promises Black Lotus will return. I can’t wait. 8/10
